We are heading into a new weekly segment this month – a four part healthy living tip series that will help you get refreshed, energized, and ready for the day ahead – no matter how much of a morning person you may or may not be. These are all part of the practice that is called a “morning routine”.
Currently, your morning routine might sound something like this – alarm blares, hit snooze, groan, hit snooze again, rush to get up brush teeth, throw on clothes, grab-n-go breakfast, rush out the door, traffic, stress about making it on time, get to work, grab coffee to stay awake, and feel scattered and miserable until it’s time to go home. And some of you might also be getting kids ready in the midst of all this. Doesn’t sound very pleasant does it? To me, it sounds like deprivation, stress, and the short road to exhaustion – trust me, I’ve been there. With a few simple changes, you can make you mornings more easeful, pleasant, and calmly re-energizing, so you can start the day on a happy, healthy note.
In the next month, I’ll give you four techniques that will help energize you in the morning and get you ready for the day ahead. You can incorporate the one or two that work for you, or put them all together each day to start your very own morning routine.
There are some mornings when you might wake up and feel sluggish, tired, or foggy-headed. Or you might wake up and feel ready to go, refreshed, and enlivened. No matter how you feel when you wake up, there is always something you can do to help your system work at an optimal level and keep you energized throughout the day.
Today’s video features two breathing techniques: one to help keep you calm you if you feel stressed in the morning and one to get you full of energy if you are feeling tired. Head on over to the video and try it out upon rising tomorrow!
Now here is your challenge: try one of these practices 3 times a week. Make sure you go to bed on time, so you can wake up an extra minute earlier. How do you feel? Which breath works best for you? Leave a comment below and let’s share and motivate each other to drop the stress and make a healthy morning routine.
Peace and Love,
